IS YOUR CALIBRATION LAB CERTIFIED?
This page is to inform and provide information about what requirements are needed to perform Class AA force calibrations. Class AA force calibrations are calibrations on force measuring devices such as load cells and proving rings used as secondary standards.
It is important to note that being accredited does not insure a laboratories capability to perform Class AA force calibrations in accordance with The American Society for Testing and Materials (www.astm.org).
ASTM requires instruments used as secondary calibration standards to be calibrated by comparison with deadweights.
Morehouse Instrument Company is the only commercial laboratory offering force calibration through 120,000 LBF using deadweights certified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology by direct comparison to national standards of mass.
Weights used to calibrate secondary force standards must be adjusted for the following:
Calibration - weights calibrated with direct comparison to national standards of mass.
Gravity - Determination at calibrating site and elevation of each weight.
Material Density - Knowing the exact density of the material from which each individual weight manufactured.
Air Density - including variations in temperature and humidity
Accounting for these variables Morehouse Instrument Company is able to offer force calibrations with an uncertainty of 0.002% of applied load on calibrations through 120,000 LBF.
Please Note: We offer A2LA accredited ASTM E74 calibrations. Many other force calibrations facilities may be A2LA accredited, but do not offer A2LA accredited ASTM E74 calibrations (make sure to ask them, because you might not be getting what you need). Or look at their A2LA certificate.
